It is a tough time! But it is very nice to receive your email, your phone call, your greeting card, or letter!

Reduce depression and anxiety: what can we do?

Financial crisis, economic downturn, laid off, foreclosure, long snow season, endless rainy days, illness.....

Perhaps we can not avoid seeing and feeling these happenings around us these days. It is also possible to see more people around to get upset,depressed, and anxiety, which will break the balance of their feeling from heart and the life. At this moment, the instant way to reduce these feeling or situation is to consult a psychologist or take medicine.

But, but, if not very serious, the following methods may help better:

• Talk to those people you can trust, let unhappy feeling and pressure release
• Drive to the seashore or mountain areas, yell to the sea and the forest; or cry without any hesitate
• Listen to positive music
• Participate in group sports, parties, and activities
• Recall the successful experience and achievements
• Try something new or interests
• Be ourselves

In addition, try to avoid the following issues:

• Drink too much alcohol
• Stay lonely
• Watch tragic movies or listen to sad music, or read too emotional novels
• Compare with others

Web lottery: true or false?

I read a news recently: A senior lady sold 9999 lottery (each 99.0 Euro) online. The winner, one and only one winner will get the prize of 83,000 Euro of her house in Europe. She sold all the lottery in a month. As a result, a dentist was the winner and got the house with only 99.0 Euro. But the lady actually made net 16,000 Euro.

This is a creative idea from the lady to sell her house.

It does not matter whether you believe it or not. The key is the earth is flat and the world is getting smaller because of the Internet.

With Internet,making money become easy and fast if and only if you have some creative ideas....

Sell hand-made stuff online

A lot of people like home-made or hand made stuff. If you have the skills to make some special products which attract interests and appraise from your family, friends, or colleagues, you may be able to try this. It is for fun but you will get paid off for your efforts and time. One of the examples is the hand-made slipper by one of my friend as shown below.

Do-IT-Yourself (DIY) for crafts

If you can make crafts from any cheap, easy available materials such paper, earth, paraffin,etc, you can open a DIY store. You can let the people design and make the crafts they want by themselves under your guidance.

Such a store should be welcomed by young and senior people to make crafts, especially craft gifts.

The store need to be located an areas with more young people around but should not be in downtown.

Sell your skills online

A private business person felt bored of her life style and the difficulty. She posted an advertise online to sell her time of the rest life. She succeeded.

So, you may not want to do the same thing. However, if you have one or more special skills, you may be able to sell it (or them) online, which will make you have the feeling of success and make some money.

Does it work or not? Try it and then you will know.

The newspaper on Jan. 20 of 2009 may worth more in the future?

On January 20, 2009, Barack Obama will be inaugurated as the nation's 44th president, the first Africa-American president in the United States. This is a special day! From this day, a new history will start for America.

So it is suggested to collect some newspaper and store them. It may worth more sometime, especially when this president can create a new record to save American economy.

Open a tea house: a healty, cultural, and elegant business

In 2006, I was invited to help an exhibitor from China for their trade show at the Congress Venter of Atlanta. I was surprized and happy that so many american people have known the health benefits of drinking tea and their strong interests in drinking teas. Some of them have studied the tea culture.

In fact, the health benefits of drinking tea have been recognized from so may studies.

So I am wondering whether a tea house can be opened and operated in a community with great potential customers. If so, the tea shop needs to be decorated elegantly with Asian style: a peaceful, friendly, cultural environment. Traditional classic Chinese music can be played all the time. The tea will be served with special tea-related cookies. The sources (books, CDs, DVDs, paintings, tea pots and related accessories etc.) to display tea culture can be presented in the house. Special events to present tea culture can be held to educate and attract interested people ...

The tea house does not need a big house, but the style, the environment, and the message to send its customers must be special.

You may not expect its popularity like coffee shop, but it is enough if you have stable tea customers.

Chinese version of tourisim information

I believed some people still remember this news:

“Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that will bring more customers to the U.S. tourism industry by facilitating group leisure travel from China to the United States and permit United States destinations to market themselves in China.
The agreement between the United States and China was announced at the U.S.-China Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT) and is expected to be implemented in the spring of 2008.”

I believe you know what this agreement and the news mean! It means that thousands of Chinese tourists will visit USA in the coming future when getting US visa become easy, which will bring tones of business opportunities to the tourism, retail industry, and hotels in the United States.

Yes, it is true and exciting, especially at the moment of bad economic situation.

However, if I ask, “Is USA ready to their visit?” You may say yes because you have websites for everything, information centers and travel guide everywhere, booklets everywhere, and tourism agents everywhere.

However, people here may not realize most of these Chinese visitors do not know much English. All of the information that currently have may NOT work for them. As a result, it may be difficult for them to find your places for sightseeing, for shopping, etc. In a word, to these non-English speaking visitors, the reception preparation here may be not ready. One of the most important issues is probably how to help them easily find the attraction/sightseeing scenery they want to see; easily find the hotel for their accommodation; easily find the places for shopping,…

So, some more works here may be needed to be ready. You may be able to help for the ready.

First, you can help you translate the travel guide, the information brochures about sightseeing scenery and hotels, the websites into Chinese, which can help these Chinese visitors find your attraction and the beauty of these places by themselves through reading the Chinese version introduction; Second, you can also advertise your places on some Chinese version websites with video to demonstrate the places, the shops, the hotels, saving their time and cost but attracting more attention!

You may be wondering how you can do this without knowing Chinese. Think about your advantages, your network, and your interest to start a business. If you have the sources or customers, you can always easily hire Chinese translators. So, if you want, can you do that? Yes, you can!
